Wat Xieng Thong
Wat Xieng Thong is a Buddhist temple known to be one of the main Lao monasteries. Like everything else in Luang Prabang, Wat Xieng Thong is modest in its features. I’m sure if I were Buddhist, I would’ve appreciated the temple more due to its religious importance, but it was hard to specially because there was virtually no English signage. Although it’s clean and well-maintained, it’s a tough sell compared to the other many temples in Indochina.
Kuang Si Falls
All these photos don’t do it justice; the Kuang Si Falls are simply a must-see on any trip to Luang Prabang. It’s almost an hour away from the city. Most visitors take a tuk-tuk to the falls, but I was fortunate enough the locals whom I had met the previous night offered me to hitch a ride with them. The admission fee for foreigners is only 20,000 LAK and you can bring in your own food and drinks and have a picnic while enjoying this absolutely breathtaking natural masterpiece.

Cheers, John! Go for it!
I’m really curious on how you get to be friends with those locals! Were you the one who approached them? So amazed you manage to travel alone and even get to have local friends. What are your tips when traveling alone? Planning to. 🙂
I just got real lucky to bump into such great people! My top tip is to be openminded and game for anything!
